Sunshine HomeCare Colorado
A privately owned, Colorado Medicaid-certified, licensed non-medical home care agency. Our mission is to help older adults and people with mental and physical disabilities receive long-term care at home and in their communities.
We have served clients since 2017. After an initial conversation with you and your family, Sunshine HomeCare Colorado uses a coordinated partnership to put together the support that matches your needs and the authorized plan.
Our services help you live as safely as possible when you can no longer do some daily activities on your own. We work with you and your loved ones so the care is clear and consistent.
The address at 8425 W Colfax Ave, Suite B, Lakewood, CO 80215, in the Denver metro area, is a mailing address only. Office staff work remotely. Caregivers work in clients’ homes throughout Colorado. There is no office to visit.
Activities of daily living
Most long-term care is not medical care. It is help with everyday tasks. A path is specific to the person. When a plan authorizes it, support can include:
- Bathing
- Dressing
- Using the toilet
- Transferring to or from a bed or chair
- Incontinence care
- Eating
Household tasks
Other support can include everyday household tasks:
- Housework
- Meal preparation and cleanup
- Shopping
- Laundry
- Medication reminders, when the service plan allows them
- Pet care that is part of keeping the home going
Skilled medication tasks are health maintenance activities under IHSS, not ordinary homemaker work. They require authorization and a nurse skills check.
Staying at home
Most people want to stay at home. When you plan for that, it helps to look at the condition of the home, whether it can be changed for a wheelchair or equipment, and whether meals, transportation, or adult day programs are available nearby. Tax and legal questions belong with a qualified advisor or the county, not with us.
How care is paid
Families pay for long-term care in more than one way, including personal funds and public programs. Sunshine HomeCare Colorado is a Colorado Medicaid-certified agency and works with Health First Colorado when services are authorized. Each program has its own rules about eligibility, covered tasks, and hours. We can explain how our services fit an authorized plan. We do not decide Medicaid eligibility.
We do not provide Medicare-certified home health, and we do not provide emergency medical care.
